The density and porosity of ceramic materials are closely related to thermal stability and mechanical properties, and are important performance indicators of materials.
Both porosity and density require the determination of the true volume of the sample. According to the Archimedes principle, the traditional measurement method first weighs the mass of the dry sample (dry weight), then measures the mass of the saturated adsorbed liquid sample in the air (wet weight) and the mass suspended in the liquid (floating weight) respectively. The difference between the wet weight and floating weight of the sample is divided by the density of the liquid to obtain the true volume of the sample. Finally, the density and porosity can be obtained.
